Prototype construction under real conditions

At TUM Boring, innovation isn't just conceived - it is built. Students develop their tunnel boring machines step by step from concept to functioning prototype. This results in complex assemblies that need to be designed, manufactured and optimised quickly.

Efficient tunnel boring - how does it work?

The Munich-based team TUM Boring - Innovation in Tunneling e.V. is addressing this question. Students are developing a new type of tunnel boring machine with the aim of making tunnel construction significantly faster and more efficient. This is the third time they have entered their technology in the Not-a-Boring Competition in the USA.

With great success: The team from Munich won the title again - and by a clear margin.
